Does anyone know some good web sites that discuss the film industry in depth?

How much depth? I mean, let's face it, you need to decide on a discipline related to film-making and stick to that.
An all encompassing site on film-making would have to cover everything from social science to carpentry. And how to make the perfect cuppa.
There are lot of sites that focus on screenwriting, but few that teach you how to be a good location manager.
Or do you just mean 'directing' when you say film-making??

I think that Darth meant "Are there any websites that discuss the MONEY-making side of the movie business in depth"?
I can't think of any, but if there is, I'D like to know as well!

Then you don't need a film-making site, rather a business management site.
The analysis is easy: for your film to make money it must be marketed such that it makes back more than it cost to produce, over x number or years.
So maybe a website on marketing film then?
Well, throw flyers everywhere, put up a poster, pull a PR stunt, get in the news.
And this reminds me of why I *HATE* the BBC's license fee with a passion ...
Everyone in the UK has to pay a license fee if they own a TV, right?
WHY!!!
The BBC churn out as much crap as anyone else, they advertise their own products and they re-sell their content globally. We are being had!!
I would gladly never watch any BBC channels again if it meant not paying the fucking fee!! But even if u don't watch BBC, you STILL have to pay the fee!!!
And yet it is CHANNEL4 that supports the film industry in a far more 'open' and accessable way.
The BBC is stuck in the fifties if you ask me. But you didn't, so I'll shut up now.

I agree, the BBC suck and you won't get me paying a licence fee.
Plus they have the least US import shows, the shows that are worth watching.

I think what he meany is that he would simply like some websites that describe the process of getting sponsorship for creating independant films, and prefferably has helpful information relating to editting and cinematography.
